ON TOP AT JENNINGS

Daryan Martin, Jason Dai, James Turgeon

Topbox Road Racing showed up in full force at the 5th round of the FMRRA Championship with all five riders ready to do battle. With each rider having many laps around the beloved Jennings GP race track it’s no surprise that the team considers it their “home race”.

Saturday practice went well, mother nature was considerate providing a beautiful day to practice. This allowed the team to make setup adjustments leading up to qualifying. The whole team qualified well but it was rider Dai #116 who put it on pole position for each of his 4 races.

Sunday began with Superstock 600 Grande Corsa 600 in which Martin #227 would beat out his teammate Dai #116 for 2nd place by just 0.019 seconds over the 12 lap race. Brown #501 brought home a strong 6th place after not having raced in a long time and Royce #74 would finish 2nd in the Amateur group (6th overall).

In the closing laps of the race they skies began to open up creating wet conditions and as Superbike 600 Grande Corse rolled around it began to monsoon. The team performed well despite many of them not having been on rain tires before. Royce #74 took the overall lead on the last lap, but missed out by just 0.106 seconds to the expert leader for the overall win. He was still able to take his first Amateur win of the season. Daryan #227 and Jason #116 would round out the expert podium in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Superstock 600 Sprint was nearly a carbon copy of the previous race with Royce #74 finishing 2nd overall and 1st Amateur with Daryan #227 2nd and Jason #116 3rd in the Expert class.

The last race of the day was Superbike 600 Sprint and the team was determined to go out on top. The Expert riders of the team took all the top positions and never looked back with Dai #116 taking his first win of the season followed by Martin #227 who was fending off Turgeon #226 finishing 3rd overall to make it a Topbox Road Racing podium sweep! Royce #74 would round out the overall top 4 battling his way through the field for his third Amateur win of the day after suffering a stalled bike on the grid.
